This Spring reset is the perfect time to amplify our appreciation for care professionals and their unwavering dedication. Caregiving demands emotional resilience, physical stamina, and deep empathy. It is not easy work, and it deserves recognition.
Just as we declutter and organize our homes, we should also focus on the people who power our agencies. Supporting care professionals through professional development and emotional well-being strengthens the heart of our operations.
Now that the holiday season is behind us, along with Winter snow and ice storms, we can step into Spring with renewed purpose. Warmer weather creates an opportunity to set goals that help care professionals feel valued and supported.
As the vibrant energy of Spring sweeps across the landscape, inspiring many of us to embark on the annual ritual of “Spring Cleaning” to refresh our homes, this season also presents a perfect opportunity for us to direct that same revitalizing effort inward.
This is the ideal moment to refresh training, reinforce best practices, and strengthen care professionals’ skills. Investing in education and support helps care professionals succeed and grow with confidence.
Consider:
- Having your Care Coordinator and/or Scheduler speak with each care professional to confirm they are happy with their current assignments.
- Reach out to update your care professionals’ availability and verify their current address. Keeping their availability/address updated will assist your scheduler in matching care professionals to clients.
- Offer “walk-in” hours with pizza, snacks and drinks where care professionals can come in and speak to management about any relevant topic i.e. how they’re doing, what training they would like, do they have any referrals etc…
- Based on feedback from care professionals, assign them new courses via CareAcademy or other training platforms.
- If you haven’t already, create a system for rewarding care professionals for outstanding work such as an Employee of the Month program, and bonuses for receiving compliments from clients.
