How Prioritizing a Work-Life Balance Increases the Bottom Line

What happens when your work-life balance is all out of whack? It means that your plate is too full, and as hard as you try, your work will suffer for it. Below we will discuss 5 issues that can arise if your work-life balance is out of sync. These 5 things can not only directly impact you, but can impact your staff, your clients, and then ultimately your bottom line.

Poor Client Interactions

When you or your team members are working too much, with too little rest, the interactions with your clients could become less positive. People can tell even on the phone when the person they are talking to is unhappy or stressed out. Meaning, clients can pick up on your mood! We want every interaction with your clients to be positive, and if that positive feeling can be genuine and natural- even better.

Caregiver Quitting

Similar to the above point when you or your admins interact poorly with your caregivers, you’re less likely to retain them. Therefore, they will be more likely to seek employment with your competitors, where they may be treated nicer. We have many articles available to help you retain caregivers. When you aren’t stressed, these retaining tactics become more natural and easy to do as well! Check out some of our articles below.

Lower Hours Per Client

If your agency isn’t providing clients with top-notch communication and service, you may not be able to retain the client. Your clients are seeking the best care they can find. This means they may search for an agency that has open availability. So, you won’t be able to increase the hours that you can serve your clients. This is why care coordination is critical.

Lack of Empathy

Finally, your emotions suffer when you or your team work too much. Meaning, burnout can turn your incredible admin from being empathetic and understanding to being short and rude with clients or caregivers. In this industry, empathy is one of our greatest tools. Therefore it must be fostered and encouraged.

Employee Burnout

Whether you have one admin who is on-call the majority of the time or you’re the one on-call at all hours of the night, you will burn out quickly. Everyone needs downtime and R & R. You can’t be expected to be on-call around the clock 7 days a week, and neither should you expect your staff to do that.
